Beowulf
This is one of the longest epic stories in the English language. The poem was written in Old-English. The story of Beowulf takes place in 6th century Denmark, Southern Sweden and the kingdoms of the Geats and the Danes.
The character Beowulf in this story is the prince of the Great and hears about Hrothgar's troubles. He gathers 14 of the bravest warriors in his town and sail from is home in southern Sweden. He was faster than the sea monsters and stronger than the demons. Grendel is the man- eating demon that lived in the land of the Spear-Danes and attacks King Hrothgar. King Hrothar is the king of the Spear-Danes and is the one in trouble and needs help from Beowulf. The youngest Geatish warrior is Wiglaf. He follows Beowulf into battle with the monsters. He was the most loyal of all the warriors because he stayed with his king after all of the lords abandoned him. |
