peoplePeople in the Middle Ages also called the Medieval Times didn't have the lifestyles as we do today. They were born, grew up, fell in love, married, had children, and died. They really didn't have a high education or have career goals in life. Most people were trying to survive on the food that they had to eat.
The wealthier people, usually the lord, princess, and nobles lived in the castles or on the highest point of a hill or mountain. The lords or nobles were the captain or boss of the manor. Everybody had to listen to him and follow his rules. Children were raised in the house until they were 7-years-old. Then the boys would be sent to learn how to be a knights and girls usually got married at 12-years-old. They had many toys, few manners, and little reading or writing skills. Knights were to protect the manor when in battle or when the manor was being raided by pirates or other manors. The boys who learned how to be a knights were the son's of nobles. They were hired by the nobles to protect their land. The knights had to follow a code called Chivalry. This code was a behavior code for knights that states that he is living to serve his king and country. He would avoid lying, cheating, and torture. The knight needs to believe in justice for all, respect women, and avenge wrong doing. Every manor had a Catholic church. The church had a: Pope, Bishop, Priest, Monk, and Nun. People payed taxes to the church in exchange for "Everlasting Life." The highest of the church was the bishop which lived in the same luxury as the nobles. He wore lavish clothes and religious garments that were covered in jewels. He was powerful and usually the nobles listened to him. The priests ranked second.cond to highest person in the church and wasn't as rich as the bishop. He was the real person that was the head of the church. The priest was really religious and took care of all the ceremonies . He wore a long black gowns and had a certain place to associate. The monks were scholars and could read and write in Latin unlike most people in the manor. To show their faith the monks shave a bald spot in the middle of the head which symbolized humanity . Monks wore brown gowns with a wool hood and had to be clean. Nuns were very holy. They lived a convent were all of the nuns stayed and could prayed. Their outfits included gowns, a scapular over their heads and a cross around their neck to show the catholic faith. |
