Food
The upper class had abundant meals. They never had to starve because they had food unlike peasants. They dined in the castle. The upper class had a huge variety of food not to mention vegetables. Back in these days only the lord and the nobles were allowed to hunt for deer, boar, and rabbits. They were used for daily meals. To the upper class food from the ground was usually considered poor people's food. The only food from the ground that upper class people would eat is bread.
The lower class had the worthless food that came from the ground. They had no privileges to hunt for their food. There was a bad consequence for poor people to kill animals. However, they would kill if they were desperate. People had stable diets that included bread (barley), pottage (a type of stew), and dairy products. Their food was very bland because lower class people could not afford spices. |
